Fake leads. Requirements to stop working in the category - TV mounts

I would like to draw your attention to the fake leads that thumbtack sends. Usually, these are 3 orders within a few minutes (assembling furniture, mounting a TV, and hanging pictures). The name indicated in the order is fictitious, the phone number (this is never iMessage) several times orders came from different clients, but the phone numbers (they were almost the same 917-498-0011 / 0012 / 0015) were fictitious. Such groups of orders come several times within an hour. Sometimes several times a day. None of these orders ended in real work. Money is not returned for such orders. The security service sends them to the return service. If you consider these orders individually, it looks like a regular order. But if you make a selection, you will see a series of fake orders. This is not my first day working with clients, and when they appear, it is immediately obvious. I noticed this trend about 2-3 weeks ago.

@Sergey Are you reporting these leads when they come through? Here is an article that explains how to do that, I would highly recommend doing so if you haven't already. We do have systems in place to capture spam/etc, but if you suspect something has gotten through you should report it for sure.

If you haven't already, I would also encourage you to register to attend our upcoming Pro Summit this Wednesday, where you'll be able to hear about upcoming product improvements based on pro feedback that may address some of these concerns. There will be keynotes from Thumbtack leadership, as well as a panel of some of our amazing pros! Hope you can join, but if you can't make it, we'll also be posting a recap here in the Community.

I am not able to help with refunds here in the Community - I would recommend reaching out to support if you'd like to follow up on a refund.

@Sergey Sorry I misunderstood! I would just make sure you are still reporting all of them as well as sending the feedback to support@thumbtack.com to be sure it is logged. I will flag this for the team too, but want to make sure you send it through as well. Thank you!

  • I caught a couple of them last time toon

@chilogm1 did you report them? If not, I would recommend doing so!

@Sergey Can you clarify for me, as I am a little confused about what you shared above. Did someone send you a request and then they texted you to tell you not to use Thumbtack for TV mounting? Is the above text thread related to one of the leads you shared?

For some reason your last message did not post - so I am unable to see what you said. Can you elaborate on why you believe these are fake leads? I was able to take a look at your account and it seems like you've had a lot of customers hire you - and some who have chosen to hire someone else and/or reached out to more pros? I would love to help, but I am just unclear as to what the above message was with the text screenshots, I don't understand how those are connected?

Or, did you get this text randomly from someone? I have reported this customer/phone number where the text came from to the team, but I can't find it connected to any leads that you received. Sorry, this is confusing, but I am trying to help you with it!
