Hi pros, 

With the new Pro Community just a few weeks away (middle of March), we want to take the time to preview what you can expect from version 2.0. We will be posting more in the coming days so stay tuned for more information.

1. A new vision:

The new Thumbtack Pro Community is designed to support you as business owners, create networking opportunities among pros, and keep you up-to-date on the latest from Thumbtack. Extraordinary doesn't happen alone and we want to help you achieve more on Thumbtack and beyond.

2. New discussion and learning categories:

For new pros, Using Thumbtack, Small business talk, Pro lounge will be replaced by:

  • Learn - For news, updates and questions beyond the Help Center.
  • Grow - Share your business experience and advice, and hear from other pros.
  • Connect - Get to know other pros in your area and your industry.
  • Share Ideas - Input from pros makes us better. (More here.)

More to come on the specific discussion boards we will be introducing.

3. Pro-to-pro conversations:

We want to encourage more dialogue among pros. The community is made up of experts with many skill sets and we want to tap into all of the tips, tricks, and advice you have to share for the benefit of others still trying to figure it out. Moderators will always be here to help, but we will not always jump into conversations right away if we think the community is positioned to crowdsource the answer to a question.

4. Transparent moderating practices:

From now on, all edits will be noted directly on posts and include the date and the reason it was made. Most times edits will be for title clarity and searchability because we want conversations to be easily accessible and able to be surfaced.

5. Assistance and resolutions:

We are creating resources for questions we see often, and also where you can access self-serve assistance. For ongoing, definitive assistance, the Help Center is where you can learn about our most up-to-date product experience. Our product is constantly evolving and improving, so we are excited to talk about Thumbtack’s features in the community but each community interaction is only a snapshot in time and reflects the state of the product at that moment.

Hello Pros,
As a part of the upcoming updates to the Pro Community, we are excited to introduce a new section we’ll be calling Share Ideas.

Feedback in the Community has previously been scattered but now we’ll have a dedicated space for you to share your ideas and suggestions for Thumbtack in a clear way. Pros will be able to upvote ideas that they support. Our intention is to bring organization and clarity to feedback in the Community going forward.

All submitted ideas will be logged into our feedback system (as they always have) and the new section will also allow us to keep you updated on ideas that get the most votes and comments. We want to emphasize that just because an idea is popular does not mean that it will lead to direct changes.

In order to make this new space a reality, we’ll need to start with a blank slate, which means that any previous ideation posts will be archived. We know this may be controversial and we want to assure you that all suggestions and feedback have been, and will continue to be, properly documented and processed into our feedback system. This process is currently underway.

In the new Share Ideas space we will ask pros to submit ideas according to a set of guidelines. One of the many reasons we are starting with a blank slate is to ensure that all ideas meet those standards.

We’ll have more details about how Share Ideas will work closer to launch. For now expect these changes to take place before the end of March.

Work behind the scenes is officially underway as we update the Pro Community! As a result you may notice some irregularities here and there but these should be few and far between. We’re not anticipating the community being down at all, however we do appreciate your patience if there are bumps along the way. 

We’re on track to go live with the updates in March!

Whether you’re new to the Pro Community or have been with us for a while, chances are you’ve noticed a ‘Level’ next to your username. It’s never been particularly clear about what these levels indicate, and that’s why we’ve upgraded our labeling system to more human terms.

Community Newcomer: Brand new pros to the Community and might still be searching around to get the lay of the land. Please lend a helping hand by answering their questions or pointing them in the right direction.

Community Regular: Moderately active pros in the Community, perhaps poking their head in every once in awhile to see what’s on other pro’s minds.

Active Community Member: Pros who actively take part in Community discussions on a consistent basis: posting, replying, and giving kudos. 

Community Veteran: You’ve probably seen these pros in more than a few of the discussion boards. They have logged significant time and engagement.

Community Expert: Reserved for our historically active pros, this designation will only be attained by a few.

Wondering how you can level up? Join in more conversations, lend a hand to other pros, and kudo posts you like. Hope to see more Community Veterans and Experts around!
