I have not received any leads since Thumbtack changed to the new system. Why? It seems like Thumbtack is trying to force us to use the promote feature.

IT’S NOT WORKING!!!! I am a top pro for years! Almost 400 hires with 201 Five Star Reviews! Been with TT since 2011. It’s been downhill all the way for the last year since you tooIT’S NOT WORKING!!!! I am a top pro for years! Almost 400 hires with 201 Five Star Reviews! Been with TT since 2011. It’s been downhill all the way for the last year since you took away our ability to quote for ourselves. I am not alone here in my discontent. Do you read these comments??? Every time you ask for comments for instant match or pricing you get thousands of ALL NEGATIVE comments. I sincerely tried this “PROMOTE” (aka instant match). My take away is that it’s pay to play! My years of experience in TT SLONG EITH MY 400 hires and 201 FIVE STAR REVIEWS mean nothing. I’ve been told by TT that I am the most hired officiant in south Florida and I’ve seen other Officiant’s credentials and none can compare. In the real world I would be ranked #1. But, if I do not participate in PROMOTE or put in a low ball price, I’m listed on the second page after “pros” ( and I use that term loosely) who have 5 reviews. Ive dropped my price to compete with some of the newbies and bottom feeders but it still doesn’t work. My rank changes every day. You are either the best and the most hired with the most reviews or YOU ARE NOT. But if you participate in promote you can hope to get ranked higher than pros who have under 5 reviews. It’s pay by your rules and participate or be 25th even if you are first!!!!! I wouldn’t mind if the jobs were coming in but they are not. TT was 80%of my business for 5-6 years. Now it’s dead. No serious customers only customers who are prompted to click on “ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR MY DATE” when clearly I am or they wouldn’t receive my info (per my calendar if that even works). To be charged so much money for someone to be prompted to ask a useless question is somewhat unethical. Why don’t you prompt them to click on my phone number instead???? That would determine a serious customer. If the click on my phone number then I know they want s discussion and I would hVd the Ability and the chance to sell myself. TT can not speak on our behalf. TTvoaints with a broad brush and thinks everything can work in every vendor category. Make them click on my phone number instead of prompting them to click ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR MY DATE. Its just bad on every level. I got one cheap job on Promote and 7 charges for “ARE YOU AVAILABLE” so money wise, I am doing the one cheap job for free!!!!! It stinks. Your promote and ranking is dictating pricing for us and you’d better be low or you’re on the second or third page. I hope that you have noticed all the comments here from Pros who have gone to other sites such as Bark, GIGmasters and others. There are new ones like Bridalope and the Wedding Booker who have come to be from the need of wedding professionals who have lost much of their work because of the decline of business on TT. When you call these other sites they comment that they are inundated with ex Thumbtack pros expressing their discontent and frustration with the negative changes. Their advertising actually refers to the high priced leads that go nowhere- meaning TT without actually saying TT. We are frustrated. We’ve tried to cope with these changes. You ask but dont hear us!!!!!! Read!! So many real pros who have worked hard for their credentials on TT have joined other sites in hopes of recouping lost work on TT. PLEASE READ THESE COMMENTS! They are ALL NEGATIVE. GO BACK TI YOUR BEGINNINGS! IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT! We miss our success on Thumbtack!!!!! k away our ability to quote for ourselves. I wanted to reach out to you as another wedding officiant only in northern Virginia. EVERYTHING you expressed I am in agreement with. TT keeps pushing me to try their Promote Me and just like Instant Match I saw it as pay to play. Like you I am a Top Pro with High Demand. I run my own statistics with my own experience 80% of leads are window shopping for a price comparison. So in reality TT gives me about 20% of leads who are actually interested in hiring a wedding officiant. For the last three years on TT my wedding officiant business kept increasing. But my increase of customer hires was 30-35% while my cost to be on TT rose 90-95%. And as you know our business is very relationship oriented. Even with being hired sometimes people drop off and don’t follow through. So your experience on TT for Promote Me has helped me decide NOT to pay to play. And I agree that these buttons “are you available on my date or what is your price estimate rarely convert to a hire. And thank you for listing Wedding Booker and Bridalope and I will look into these site. I did read one comment from a TT staff who said: that TT was losing 80% of customers to put before us because people want “instant prices’ but here’s the deal. Those customers are still filling out a form but TT has co-opted those requests to be in control of them via Instant Match and now Promote Me. Why because they actual make more money. When I first joined TT I paid $3,50 for all job requests. I have watched the prices steadily increase over these last three years to now $15-22 per bid. I was told by TT that the new system would save me money because I would only be charged when contacted. For every one hire it cost me about $40-50 per hire which I try to pass on to the customer. But as you know their are different price points for Elopements, small weddings 21-50, mid size and very large 101-150. TT doesn’t get our high and low season prices or the influence of geographical locations. Bigger cities with high incomes do pay more for my services. Rural and mountain areas where income is lower pay less. Each geographical area sets the prices. And the type of venue matters. My experience this 2018 is that more and more couples are eloping and having much smaller weddings like 20-50 to keep costs down. As you know we are the least expensive vendor among all vendors involved in weddings. I do high end wedding $30-50 thousand and it is only fair to charge more for that types of spending. Couples expect it and are willing tu pay my higher fees. Backyard wedding do not command my highest fee.
Unfortunately TT has become greedy at the expense to the vendor or their customers. Still between all referall sources TT, other wedding sites where I get hired with any costs like weddingwire who is now merging with theknot, networking with wedding planners, venues where I have officiate, former couple referrals and other vendor referrals have helped me increase my business to move away from TT.
TT lacks transparency. They tell customers it is free to contact the vendor but they do not tell their customers that the vendor pays for the contact. They do not list a few examples. And they send me jobs where I am not registered or licensed to officiate. I don’t want some “trigger happy” customer to contact me under Promote Me only to pay for a dead lead.
I”ll continue to use TT but until TT tells customers that vendors pay for contacts, until their automated system works better and until their share is more reasonable I won’t pay to play. It reminds me of a casino. The house is always the winner.

The ranking should be eliminated. The "promote yourself" should be eliminated.

If a customer is looking for a professional, there should be choices for them to pick from. Think of the checklist used when someone is shopping and needs to pare down their choices. (For example: Photographer, within 10 miles of zipcode, within $1000 budget, etc. Then the matches could be listed ranked by 5 stars down, or something like that.

Every professional on TT is here to PROMOTE themselves, otherwise they wouldn't be a need for them to be on TT. It's not "promoting" when all I am doing is willing/able to pay for leads; leads do not equal actual clients.

The old system was way way way more efficient and made sense. The new system is costing your money making users too much for no return. Sad to see a good company start to fail due to greed .

My question is when clients react that it seems I'm hired.
Why is it that they ask what the price is when in my profile my price is already stated and so is my professional credentials
Do they not see this when they first do their request?

Honestly, I could care less about my "ranking".  I liked the way Thumbtack operated when I first signed on - about a year and a half ago.   Glad to see you are not charging me as much for quotes, but STOP CHANGING THINGS!  It was working FOR ME before.  Now, I don't like it - at all.   I will NOT be taking as many jobs from you in the future.

Explain me why I should pay 50 dollars for the totally unqualified leads you provide. From people who ask 10 pro for a quote just for fun. Every answer bring you 50 doll. No one get hired. The question is always: How much do you charge?
You guys are so unserious...

The old system is SO much better then this new one. I have a super strong profile and I’m still at level one? How am I supposed to get new customers? It’s been four months since I’ve had any customer interaction whatsoever. I had a good business going until the app was tweaked yet again, and I spent a LOT of money getting to the bottom of the barrel at “level 1.” I feel insulted. Not sure where to go from here, hope the old system is back for good or else myself and many other pros will jump ship. Please get the quote system back because all pros should have an equal opportunity.
