Hi Chris,
My biggest issue is having enough information in the request to actually bid it. I am a mecanicals contractor and most of my jobs have to be bid based on more information than the request usually has. For instance lets say someone wants a heat pump. They request a contractor and dont gice any info as to size of structure, number of floors, whether it has duct work already installed etc. Most of my units have to be sized to the house and it is very difficult to spitball an estimate. Once they contact me you charge me for the bid but i haven't even given a bid yet. Then when i explain to the customer the details of the job they realize it is more involved than they thought and they back out. I have not been using the service because of that issue. I can just throw out a price but it woild be a total guess and probably not very accurate. How can this be resolved? I love the idea of thumbtack but it just doesnt seem practical for my business.

Please add granular categories or genre selections for video production. I get (and pay for) instant match leads for this service but I don't do weddings. I don't want to pay for these types of leads but can't exclude them. Thanks for your time. Rob

Recently I’ve been contacted directly by customers looking to have work done, and under the new pricing system there is no way to send them a personal message rejecting the work without paying a ridiculous fee, often in excess of $10, for absolutely nothing. Sure, you can reject the contact, which basically amounts to just ignoring the customer’s request, at least from their prospective, which doesn’t look very professional. It would be nice to be able to respond to the customer directly and explain to them exactly why you are rejecting their request, such as you are all booked up for that time, etc so that you can continue to maintain a professional image and hopefully keep a positive relationship with the customer for consideration for future work. Ignoring customers isn’t good for business, especially with a service like Thumbtack where you tend to see the same people looking for services over and over. If personalized rejection responses re not possible maybe you can have a rejection auto-reply feature or something where Pros can create like 3-5 rejection templates and select one of these rejection replies without being charged for the contact.

Hi and thanks to the Thumbtack admin for honing the model to best serve the community and our clients!

We are professional window coverings specialists/dealers. We provide sales and design of custom blinds, shades, shutters and drapery as well as expert installation for our products. The business is very specialized and technical. It is impossible for me to identify the the price before I work through product/materials and sizes with the client. Also, I prefer not repairing work done by others.

My industry would be better served with another category, perhaps "Window coverings sales and installations".

I stopped using your app/service for my business because people were contacting me, but when I made a first reply they didn’t reply again. It happened many times and it was not because of my response. I don’t trust your app and I’m not giving you money to have some random person contact me then disappear. It may not be a scam but feels like one.

Hi! Will we be charged if a client reaches out to us, but we do not want that job? I tend to find myself wasting quotes, because a client reaches out for me to take photos, than once I feel as if we are about to set a date, they don’t respond. I am charged even for their no response even if I don’t press the hire button. Is there a feature in this update that will allow us only to be charged if we get hired and it is official. Because, I am loosing lots of money in this way. I also would like to know, if there is someway before a photographer goes into a shoot with a client, if there could be some level of background checks. I am mainly thinking of company shoots, to prove the legitimacy. Because legitimacy is always a big concern for me!

Children's Entertainment & Budget ranges

Two details that have been missing that very much effect my ability to accept quote requests involve two things- 

1. Age of children. I provide an entertainment service that is specifically for ages 5 and below. Is there now only a 12 and below option? This is not helpful at all for people who work with kids with very different developmental needs. a 2 year old's birthday party is very different from at 12 year olds.

2. Price range. When the customer suggests a price range budget,  this helps me know what to quote, or whether or not to quote. This seems to also have been removed.

I have had no bookings through Thumbtack since you have made these changes, and it has been very frustrating.

Last week i pay around $200 of people just getting info out on my service. Do they realize that each time the write we get charge? is there is a way to get charge once we get the gig. I don't mine getting charge $200 , but i be more happy if i get the gig to cover that investment back. But now im just being charge for leads that all the are looking for information.
