Whenever you're engaged in a discussion with a potential client, always have a balance between having it professional and personal. Be professional in dialog but be personal once it comes to understand each client's needs and circumstances. We don't live in a perfect world which means we won't always have perfect clients in what we see as the perfect situation. Always be understanding if the client has to cancel or reschedule because something has some up, especially if it's a family emergency. If you show them that you are caring and understanding, they're more likely to come back again for the services you offer. In general, treat the client the way you'd want to be treated if you were in their shoes.
