I hired an Accountant to help me do my annual tax return and going forward to do my quarterly taxes as well. It took so much pressure off of me as I'm not a tax expert and don't have to worry about the minutiae of taxes now! #LoveIt I spoke to three prospects and settled on my choice as he was very approachable, affordable, and took my questions seriously. Most importantly, he was very responsive when I had questions and continues to be a year later.
As a Pro, I didn't learn to do anything differently but definitely saw how being quick to respond makes customers feel valued.
I hired a photograpgher for an event, but I was looking for a videographer. A lot of them did not even respond or say they can't do it. They probaly just pass the gig I am assuming. One thin I think you can do better is show the client the calender so they don't even ask the vendor if they are available and have they pay if they promote automatically for no reason. Also let the client know that vendors will pay to talk to them so they message unless they are serious instead of just shopping for price and make everbody pay and only thumbtaack is really benefiting. You guys can also do better on how you quote the gig, I think its inconsistent.
I will not use Thumbtack to hire another Pro. Why? Because I know that some Pros may be Promoting and will get charged for conversation starter(which isn't fair to them) and that has been my biggest argument against Promote, which @DustiO you know from our conversations, as well as my communication with @Meckell .
But may I also add, that I have searched Thumbtack as a customer, and there are so many flaws. I'm making a list again as well as another list of flaws from the Pro side(at least the DJ side which affects me and my fellow DJ Pros) which I will send to you, or is there someone else I need to share it with?
@DJStevie apologies if it wasn't clear, but this contest is for pros to use the site as a customer and who are hoping to see their project all the way through to completion. That way there's no unnecessary contacts or charges and everything is legitimate. If any pros here have misunderstood and contacted another pro when not actually serious about their project please let us know and we can take care of it. If you have #cbbs that you've noticed from the customer point of view feel free to share those here. If you have feedback from the pro point of view please share those with us directly or in another thread that's more related.
@DJStevie As a well-informed pro, you understand how the process works, and wouldn't be using any quick replies or reaching out to pros if you weren't interested, I would hope! As you know, pros are not charged for you to look at their profile - you can look through profiles and if there is a pro you are interested in hiring, then you can reach out to them. Hope you give it a try.
No disrespect, but I will not use Thumbtack to hire another Pro for reasons previously stated. I will, however, continue to search it as a customer to see why customers may not be reaching out to me. Many discussions recently have touched base on it, but I will have my own conclusions soon.
I hired a lawn care specialist to do my lawn twice a week until October.
#LoveIt One thing I loved was being able to review a lot of profiles and then personally reaching out to them to check their availability. I was able to read all the reviews and then decide as opposed to sending out to all and awaiting responses.
I wouldn't do this differently as I am already doing it. Pros need to RESPOND. I asked 10 Pros and only one responded. That one got the job because he responded within 24 hours. It's been a week now and the 9 others haven't responded. I wouldn't hire any of the others at this point as they have proven their lack of customer service.
