@needsmorecoffee as you've mentioned, job postings by a minor are not allowed on Thumbtack and if those contacts come to you they will be eligible for a refund. We've done our best to develop a system that will prevent/catch these as they come in, however, it can be tricky to stop them all. We've seen instances where kids may use their parent's account, but also seen that parents may post the job on the minor's behalf.
If you do end up being contacted by a customer who is a minor and then charged please let us know by disputing the contact.
@needsmorecoffee while there does need to be some evidence of the customer being a minor, in most of these instances, we’ll check the messaging between the customer and the pro for certain signals and the job details. If a customer disputes that they are not a minor we will take the needed action to come to a resolution. I'd be happy to take a second look at things if you have any contacts that you're unsure about feel free to send me a direct message.
As for your suggestion for Thumbtack to require proof of age when a customer uses the site, I've made sure to pass along your feedback.
