To repeat the point I made earlier, pro's are voting with their feet. The number of people on this thread who say they have ceased using or hugely reduced their use of Thumbtack is enormous. Me too. Objections specifically. It is not up to Thumbtack to say, "You should pay more for a lead for a bigger job. Very arrogant IMHO. Not knowing the cost upfront is a very unusual practise, not acceptable IMHO. Rising cost of utilization in general with sinking results. I don't make judgements like "greedy" If Thumbtack can find enough persons to make their business model pay for them, good luck. Myself and most of the other contributors to this thread will not be onboard, is all. Brian. http://www.mindmagic.com

It is obvious that respondants are making the same points over and over again. My experience is similar. Approx $3.00 per lead, many results, a few years ago. Later, up to $5.00 per lead, declining results. Recent bids, about $14.00, no results. Gradual decline in my responses, looking for other services. Thumbtack is pricing itself out of my interest. Appears to be exorbitant cost, only to its own benefit. They can charge whatever they like, and if they can make it work for them, good luck. But the overwhelming consensus on this forum is that many are voting with their feet.
