Hi Chris, My biggest issue is having enough information in the request to actually bid it. I am a mecanicals contractor and most of my jobs have to be bid based on more information than the request usually has. For instance lets say someone wants a heat pump. They request a contractor and dont gice any info as to size of structure, number of floors, whether it has duct work already installed etc. Most of my units have to be sized to the house and it is very difficult to spitball an estimate. Once they contact me you charge me for the bid but i haven't even given a bid yet. Then when i explain to the customer the details of the job they realize it is more involved than they thought and they back out. I have not been using the service because of that issue. I can just throw out a price but it woild be a total guess and probably not very accurate. How can this be resolved? I love the idea of thumbtack but it just doesnt seem practical for my business.
