I have been using Thumbtack for 2 years. And I have gotten quite a bit of business as you might be able to see for my reviews on my page. However I've noticed that the pricing has gone up dramatically. At one point I was paying between 6 and $8 for pair lead and now I'm paying 13 or $15. Head was paying anywhere from 18 to $21 for an install replacement. And now I'm paying upwards of 50 to $65 is a replacement lead. I like Thumbtack however it has gotten very very pricey. One of the main reasons I went with thumbtack was because the leads were less pricey and seem to be more qualified leads than Home Advisor. I do understand that as some tack grows prices need to raise and as you get more and more professionals using your service prices will need to go up. However, especially right now when Roofing is super busy your lead prices go up. And then when Roofing is not super busy lead prices go down. Why not just have a base rate all the time? So one base rate for repairs and one base rate for replacement. I have found myself passing on more leads due to the cost of thumbtack. It used to be that I would try every lead now I've been choosy. I vote that you lower your prices and stay at one base rate. Thumbtack used to be cheap but now they're just like the rest. I do like thumb tacks model and how you can make yourself look very presentable as a professional. However, the price is almost not worth it I can start my own website and do my own thing for cheaper. And get just as many leads.
