Although I greatly disagree with the new ridiculous payment structure, and believe that it is highly overpriced, I will say that I owe a lot of the success that I have earned to hustling with the old Thumbtack. Fortuntaly, I was able to build a large base clientele of repeat customers through Thumbtack before it became somewhat of a mess. Thumbtack was great for entrepreneurs who wanted to build a brand, on a budget, at an affordbale price. I honestly hope that this service does not become a sister scam to Home Advisor, and takes a step back towards a platform that worked so well. I used to submit bids at 140$-210$ a month with the credit platform. Now Thumbtack urges me to set a budget of hundreds of dollars, per service, per week. The people that used to use this app to find business services were usually great clients, very down to earth people, and easy to work with. Now most of the clients I find myself interacting with or submitting bids for on Thumbtack are classless, cheap, and incommunicable. There must be a connection between the prices businesses now have to pay, and the rate at which good people are leaving. Soon, a new company similar to Thumbtack will open, and the entrepreneurs that use this service will leave. Thumbtack used to be fun- sending bids affordably, and waiting on a response. It was even more fun when we didnt have to pay until they responded. At that time Thumbtack disguised itself as the most fair lead service I had ever used. They had finally earned trust as a fun, affordable, and credible company- and then multiplied there rates by 5. I am really hoping that Thumbtack takes a step back and gives people the ability to hustle again. Nothing is more rewarding than building a brand and being self-made. As an entrepreneur I am more than happy to pay to utilize the network of a service that provides me with a door that I can open. However, I hope that for each and every single business that uses Thumbtack, that Thumbtack put the care back into the hearts of the customers that pay to use them, and stop giving these payment platform ideas to an employee that clearly doesnt know too much about running a business. People are leaving!

I have been with Thumbtack for some time. When I first started, the payment process was by credits. You purchased credits and could see how many credits it would cost you for each bid you selected. This method made the service more enjoable because as a businessman, I was able to select and bid on projects that I thought were worth the alloted credit amount. I thought it was genius. NOW, it is impossible to see how much the response from a potential client might be, AND the prices have quadrupled! I paid over 70$ for a client to respond to me that she hired someone else. A year ago 70$ would have gotten me AT LEAST 6 or 7 bids. This is the same reason I left Home Advisor- greed and unfair pricing. I really love Thumbtack, but the change in pricing is a HUGE turnoff, and the clients arent as good as they used to be! PLEASE change back to the structure that turned me on to your company in the first place.
