Joining local Facebook groups and then posting about our business. Also waiting for people to post in those groups looking for recommendations and then posting about your business is one free way that we got our name out there

in my business experience and personal life, no. Craigslist is kind of shady in my opinion. Places like thumbtack, Angie’s and home advisor would be beneficial but they’re pay per lead

In addition to FB groups, I have also found success with the Nextdoor app as a way to interact with customers local to me. I will also add I find leads for any online presence always seem to pick up when I am actively receiving leads. That might be on my Google page, or FB, or Nextdoor.. but if they see positive reviews the algorithms always get me more leads.

Google Google Google. And Thumbtack. If you're gonna have any pay per lead system Thumbtack has been the best for me.
Facebook has been hit or miss for me. But anytime someone posts needing work done there's 10 different people commenting that they can help. And kind of the same point, there's so many businesses promoting themselves that most of the posts just get glossed over. I'm planning on trying Facebook ads in the near future.
Google is the best way if you can rank high enough in search. I paid a guy to optimize my SEO a little and I'm usually top 10 in my area now. Since then I've been getting quite a bit more organic calls and interactions on my website. Which are almost guaranteed jobs since the customer directly reaches out to me.
I had a bad experience with Google Ads when I first started, long story. But because of that I haven't tried Google Ads since.

I agree with Joshua_Harding 100%. Nextdoor has been great for me and building my business locally. Thumbtack, Google and Yelp have helped touch a wider pool of customers. I have also been posting short reels of before and after photos showcasing what all I do.
