Have any pro's had any suspicious leads that do not get refunded? I am very concerned

Hi there, I am a very concerned pro. I havent had a lead in a months until I recently got two. The first one was no response in the app and outside the app. Which is frustrating and sketchy even if it does fall under your policy. but the following week, my next lead is extremely suspicious. #1: I was inspecting lead but only could click deny because the customer canceled the requests. (there for denying me the communication as a link or connection for future jobs)#2: The customer also checked all of the boxes for budget including the once that I do not accept, I am mostly concerned that they clicked that they are uncertain about their budget. (why doesnt this cancel out the rest of the boxes) I dont accept uncertain budgets!#3 I found the customers number through looking back at the details of the lead - I called the customer and the number goes directly to a non-service automated answer - the lead was for a music video and this musician doesnt seem to exist on any social media platform or in the area they needed the video. (As a musician, let me tell you that you don't exist a musician if you don't have social media, spotify, etc.)All of my concerns have been ambiguously dismissed and all requests to speak with a manager have turned into ambiguous emails about policy. I work too hard to deal with this and would like some support from Thumbtack, this is very alarming considering how suspect it is that the phone number leads to nowhere. I like many others have been very frustrated with the refund department denying refunds that do not seem to fall under your very own policy and I know that plenty of us pro's would like better transparency.   • YES! We have received a many sketchy leads. Fake inquires with no answers to calls or text. Requesting a refund is a waste of time. I will deactivating my account, were just giving these crooks money for nothing.

  • @Eriich yes I have had so many to the point I added them together over a span of 2.5 years and it was around $27,000 in wasted money on bad fake leads they refused to refund. I took my business elsewhere until the refund policy is completely changed, and forced instant is done away with.

  • Yes, we have been receiving bad fake leads and Thumbtack does not reimburse all Bad lead. We have lost a lot of money on useless leads. I have not counted how much it has cost our business but I think I will do that a post that information. So other business are aware. I do not like Thumbtack REFUND POLICY it needs to be changed. Your not giving us a cash refund your only giving us account credit so what do you have to lose by taking our refund request seriously. We cannot spend the refunds with any other company. Requesting a refund is a waste of time when you keep declining them.

    FAKE LEADS Beware of the name John Chab he is trying to scam company by signing a contract with you and then sending check that are $5000 over the amount that he owes you. The check are on companies he doesn't own. Lucky us we never deposited any checks and we contacted the company who he is also trying to steal from. We reported this to the local FBI and Attorney General Office.

  • I've tosses a couple of thousand in wasted leads in the past two months. No refunds. No responses. And why is "Customer stopped responding" an option when requesting a refund, if Thumbtack never honors that option?

    @NLSPHOTOBOOTHS did you report this customer to Thumbtack as well? If not, I would strongly recommend doing that. So sorry you experienced this!

    When I first started, things were going fairly well. Then, I started getting fake leads, to the point where the cost of these leads surpassed my profits. After addressing the issue and disputing the bad leads, I finally got reimbursed. However, now I hardly receive any leads, and the few that come through either don’t respond or disappear, causing me to lose money. In one month alone, Thumbtack took over $300 from me. On top of that, I’m being overcharged for leads, even though I set my own price. The only positive takeaway is that I’ve accumulated some good reviews for my business. In my opinion, Thumbtack is a waste. Do yourself a favor—focus on creating content on social media and start generating leads organically, which is what I’m doing now. Goodbye, Thumbtack!

    @Eriich It seems like the more I reach out to customer service or raise concerns, the fewer leads I receive. It feels like there’s a form of retaliation for speaking up.
