Bad reviews

I hate getting bad reviews from people I never worked for. Why is that a thing? My only two bad reviews come from people I never worked for.

  • also customer should not be able to leave a review on your prices.. there always someone cheaper. So if 100 customers are ok with my pricing and one customer finds someone to do it cheaper and complains that I’m to high that not fair to the pros at all.

we wholeheartedly agree! I never even thought about a NON-customer leaving a bad review & NOT being able to do anything but a “public response”. Thumbtack (at least as far as we know) is the ONLY one of the lead service providers we use who even allows this. Our ONLY 1-star review (keeping us from having 5-stars, drops us to 4.7) is from a lady who put down she wanted insulation (so it was a match) but get there to find she needed silicone around two windows on a 3rd story area accessible only from walk through door from the garage - not what we normally do but she needed help & we told her we’d get some prices for renting a lift - none of the suppliers we deal with had any ‘rough terrain’ (through dirt, grass & rocks) lift that would fit through a standard walk-through door. After going above & beyond trying to help with something we don’t even normally do she left us a 1-star review saying ‘they couldn’t do the job’. I even called customer support complaining that she got us out there under false pretenses by saying she needed insulation when she knew she didn’t then leaves a crappy review based on all of that. I was told anyone can leave a review simply based on “their interaction” with the company. & the only recourse was I could reply to her review. I replied (trying not to be too rude) & said something along the lines of ‘we are so very sorry we were not able to provide a quote to you for a service we don’t normally do to a 3rd story window requiring a lift that doesn’t exist - we had hoped you would have understood’
