New temporary numbers

Hello, my name is Jason and I own an exterior construction company where we do residential exterior construction ( gutters, roofs, siding, etc. ). I have been using lead generating services for about 18 of the 23 years I’ve been in business. I will say that thumbtack has been by far the best and most rewarding platform that I’ve used. With that being said, the prices of some of the leads and quality of the leads doesn’t always match to the price I pay for the lead. 200-300$ for a roof lead is a little steep. But my main concern is the new temporary numbers. I have called multiple times about this expressing my concerns about customers not wanting to answer the phone because they feel like that it is spam. I have had them text me from the temporary number that I texted them from saying they didn’t answer my phone call because it came through as an 866 or 877 number and they thought it was spam. I have also spoke to them on the phone after multiple times calling and they have mentioned they didn’t answer because they thought it was spam. This creates an issue for us as pros trying to get in touch with them to set up a time for an estimate. I never had as many issues like I have now getting in touch with customers the way it was set up before when you actually got their REAL number. And it also took away all of the phone numbers I had for my previous customers before this was implemented which is aggravating. So I would say maybe lower the lead prices for certain trades a tad and definitely get rid of the temporary numbers!!

Thank you for sharing your feedback about temporary numbers, I have shared it with that team. This experience was a pilot for temporary numbers, so your feedback is really important! Know that the pilot is ending and you should start to see numbers as you did before in the next few days. I want to confirm that you did also send this feedback to support when you called or emailed? I just want to make sure that it also gets logged in your account so we can track it!

    Also, re: lead prices, have you tried playing around with your Max Lead Prices? It may be worth lowering those and seeing how things perform, especially since you are not locked in to those for any time frame. Maybe try adjusting and give it a day or 2 to see what the impact is — might be worth trying!
