Why has Thumbtack changed so much in the last 12-24 months from what it was?
higher costs than ever, lowest ROI I've ever had with TT after 12 years of using them.
Been a Top Pro for a very long time. Not sure what changed do much but 5 years ago it was an amazing source for new leads and customers.
Nowadays it seems like it's a drain on my bank account and I can't convert the little opportunities I go get from it.
Anyone else feeling this and what's the answer to getting higher quality leads that actually convert?
What's the answer here to this Thumbtack?

Hi @Townpump thank you for posting. Since you have been around so long, you have probably already done this, but just in case — have you tried playing around with your max lead prices to see if that helps? From what I can see, your profile is stellar and you're showing up in the top 3 almost always. But, is the issue the number of leads you are getting, or turning those leads in to hires?

I've noticed it too. I don't know what Thumbtack is thinking besides
I haven't had a "only picked me" lead all year. I have had the lowest win rate in 2025 ever. I have had more insane requests that I can't get refunds for than ever before.
I have two methods of recourse: I can charge Thumbtack Users who buy $102 an hour like I do for Angi Users instead of the $85/hr. rate that everyone besides Thumbtack Users pay (they pay $93.50 because Thumbtack was already too expensive). Or, I can stop using Thumbtack.
I took the second route. I turned off pretty much all services but the one that only cost me $5 for a $9,000 customer and one that I'm trying out as a last ditch effort which currently has a 0 for 1 win rate.
What can Thumbtack do? First, allow Users to pick ONE and ONLY ONE pro. Second, install a "granted" button on the Refund department control panel, preferably one the same size or better yet larger than the "deny" button.

There has been a significant decrease in leads and a substantial increase in costs.
They have partnered with other apps like Next Door, and I’ve noticed that the individuals who come from there are seeking local service providers (this is just one of the challenges needed to be over come now for me), my nutritionist services do not necessarily require to be local. The leads are simply confused at their sign up process.
I'm being placed in front of these leads, putting me at risk of not being able to obtain refunds due to these connections. The individuals assume that I reside in their local area.
As a result of this and other challenges that have occurred, I’ve had to explore alternative methods for finding leads on my own. While they previously received substantial revenue from me, I’ve reduced my marketing spend with Thumbtack due to the decline in the quality of service they provided over the past ten years. It's unfortunate.
