Leads/Payment
This new way of charging for leads is really bad.
The client has no idea about the actual size of the project. I’ve been getting many leads where the client selects “more than 500 sq. ft.” or more than one room, and in the end they turn out to be tiny projects. So we end up paying a very high price for the lead. It’s honestly surreal — these leads keep getting more expensive every day.
Another point: clients shouldn’t have the option to send their request to more than three professionals. It’s extremely unfair. I’ve received leads where the client sends the request to five or six pros, and in the end they never answer the phone or reply to messages.
It feels like Thumbtack is losing its direction, focusing more and more on profit, leaning further toward the client’s side, and undervaluing professionals. I’ve been on the platform since 2022 and have invested a significant amount of money in Thumbtack. Now I’ve been looking more and more for alternatives. It’s becoming unsustainable to keep this up.

Hi @DecoraWallpaper I wanted to look into your account to see if there was any advice I could offer, but the email you used here in the Community is not linked to your pro account. If you want to drop that email here, I would be happy to look into it!
I was just going to check out how you had your lead prices set - have you tried lowering those to see if it impacts lead volume? If not, it may be worth a try!
However, I understand the general frustration/feedback around lead pricing and so I would also recommend that you send this pricing feedback to support@thumbtack.com to be sure it gets logged under your account/category.
