Scammer contact

I'm a real estate photographer. I photograph homes for sale. The people who contact me are usually real estate agents who are going to list a house for sale.

A few days ago I was contacted by someone through thumbtack to photograph a house. However, after speaking with them, i found out the what they really want. The house in question is NOT for sale. Apparently whoever owns the home has no current interest in listing the house for sale. The people who contacted me wanted me to drive to the house, and put a note with their contact info on the front door and in the mailbox. And they claim that IF the house goes up for sale, they'd hire me to photograph it.

This sounds like a scam to me. A way to get me to be their errand boy and post their info up on a house for free. Sound like a scam to you?

You know what else is weird? When I contacted thumbtack asking for a refund from this, thumbtack claims this is a valid contact. How exactly is being contacted and asked to do something FOR FREE that isn't even part of my services a legit contact?

@Merk I have looked into this for you and I'm not sure why it was denied. You should see a refund shortly. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and sorry you had to deal with this!
