@Bretdouglas @Bretdouglas67 @ShaquealThomas do you have any advice for this pro?

  • Good Morning ThePowerofNow,

I understand your frustration. Being in the junk removal business on Thumbtack for 5+ years has taught me a lot about lead generation and ROI. The likelihood of you getting refunds on Thumbtack is going to be super low. They’ll only refund in certain circumstances; many of which involve the lead not fitting your preferences. In order reduce your spending and increase your ROI I would make the following adjustments:

1.) increase your prices. Focus on clients who are looking for value and want a professional experience. Most of the companies who bottom feed on cheap leads fizzle out.
2.) Display your prices. This can deter customers who are just price shopping.

3.) Keep doing what your doing in regards to following up. I would suggest calling the leads as well. This allows the customer to hear your level of professionalism and puts a warm personalized touch on what can ultimately be a cold “numbers experience “

    Hope this helps !

Love seeing this! Thank you @junkminers11 you really are the best! Miss seeing you!

  • My pleasure! Always here to help.

  • You need to document everything.

Every "lead" that comes in, screenshot it before you do anything else.

Next, send a prepared message "Thanks for contacting us! We'll call you shortly." You're only doing this for Thumbtack, not for you, your business or your customer. Don't wait for a reply, don't wait for the User to read it. This has served it's purpose.

Now call the User. Immediately push to schedule the job and be prepared, he's going to want service tomorrow. Maybe today. Sometimes this hour. I had someone message me at 11:47 P.M. asking for service that day.

Screenshot the initial request again, it's gonna change. You may see "Only picked you" on the first screenshot and "contacted 6 pros" on the second.

Which brings me to my next point. I don't know enough about your business, but I know mine. We close at 5:00, are done well before 6:00 most days. Often 3:30 or earlier. I, nor you, want to deal with drunk texts at 2:00 A.M.. Turn Thumbtack to "Hide My Business" every day at the end of the day for the current day. Thumbtack will automatically turn it back on again at 8:00 A.M.

My data shows that nearly every "lead" I've ever received between close of business and beginning of the work day are failures.

Explore alternatives. I've had incredible success with PRE. If PRE doesn't exist in your area, contact them and ask about starting a chapter.

I've also found Bark to be annoying but productive.

No matter what you do, you need data. PM me fore specifics on how I gather mine.
