How does the review system work

I got 18 reviews...had a 4.9 star until 1 Client left a 1 star review now im instantly at 4.7...however got another 5 star review and my rating didn't move...nothing about thumbtacks systems make sense

It just calculates the average - I just took a look and 4.7 is correct if you add all of your ratings up and get the average.
