Clients booking more than one person at a time

Good Afternoon,

I am new to Thumbtack and have been trying to figure out how to handle clients who reach out to book more than one person and have a discussion call but go with someone else. Do I get charged for that? How can I stop that from happening in the future?

Hi @Susanvenning_60 and thanks for posting! You will be charged as soon as you are connected with a potential customer, even if that doesn't result in a hire. I think it is pretty common for customers to get a few quotes, but there are ways to really make yourself stand out as THE one that they should hire. With that in mind, there are a few things to focus on:

    • Respond really quickly when a customer reaches out - within the first few minutes, ideally, but definitely within the first hour. Statistically you are much more likely to be hired if you respond quickly
    • Be sure in your initial response you are showcasing how you can help the customer in their specific situation (ie if a customer reaches out about data entry, be sure you are answering with how you can help them with data entry and what qualifications you have in that area)
    • Make sure you have your job preferences set to only the types of jobs you want to do
    • Same goes for your Max Lead Prices and budget - be sure you have those set to where you want them
    • Track how things go over time and look at your overall ROI vs looking at it lead by lead
    • Get more reviews - I would aim to have at least 10 reviews if possible. You can have past clients leave you a review, and you can also import those from Google - as statistically you are also more likely to win the job if you have 5 or more reviews (but more is always better in this case!)

You should join one of our CommuniTEA sessions if possible, as that is a GREAT space for you to talk to other Thumbtack pros and get some of their best tips and tricks! And, I would also recommend either joining a live New Thumbtack Pro webinar, or watching it on demand.

    Hopefully this helps!

  • Thank you @DustiO for your reply. I will join a live New Thumbtack Pro Webinar for sure!
