Thumbtack really doesn't care...

I have been a member of the TT community since 2022, it has had its ups and downs, and I have ridden them all out. What broke me was I got a lead for a mural at a barber shop in Riverside, CA. I did the usual, text, message and eventually call, all to no avail and no response. No problem, this is the usual response from most TT customers.
Cut-to an hour later, I get another request for a mural at a barbershop in Riverside, but a different persons name. This couldn't be a coincidence, so I did the same, messaged, texted and called. This time, the person got back to me over text, we did a quick call and she had no real information about size or anything, but at least we contacted.
Over text I asked her, "hey is [insert other clients name] your boss?"
"No, we work together at the same barbershop, my bossed asked us to look for a muralist"
Ok, easy enough I thought, a duplicate job, I have text evidence as well as the location being the same, I thought I was a shoe-in for a refund on the latest one (which was $23 more!??)
Submitted it to support, instantly rejected. Appealed over email, with screen shots of the text message as well as the two lead names.
Still, rejected refund. I then called CS and spoke with a lovely support person, she said "I see very clearly that it is the same job, and the same person, but you have to submit it to support@, maybe attach the images again and it should be ok"
I email AGAIN, and since then, TT has been silent.

that sounds ugly. I’ve been with TT 10+ years and it seems my lead costs are a lot more too.

There is an update on this, magically by the FOURTH email, TT customer service decided it was absolutely eligible for a refund, but ONLY as a courtesy refund, so only issued it as a credit. I hate their policy with a passion, it makes no sense why it is a clear cut case, they see it is as such, yet it's a ONE TIME COURTESY.
