Why is Thumbtack redacting truthful lead-fee information from my profile?

Customers are still doing what they have always done—contacting multiple contractors to compare estimates. The difference today is that a third-party platform may charge each contractor for those contacts. Customers should understand that because it changes the economics of what used to be a free direct phone call.

There is nothing wrong with comparison shopping. The issue is the paid intermediary sitting in the middle, charging contractors for those introductions.

Thumbtack is repeatedly redacting this sentence from my public profile: ‘Thumbtack charges contractors real money when customers contact us, whether we are hired or not.’ The editor accepts and saves it, but the customer-facing profile replaces it with asterisks. Screenshots attached.
