Plumbing Business Owners — How Are You Handling Slow Weeks?
Hi everyone, I’m curious to hear from other business owners, especially those in the plumbing and home-service industry.
How do you handle slower weeks when the number of plumbing jobs and leads drops? Do you focus more on marketing, follow up with old customers, offer maintenance services, or use that time to improve other parts of the business? I’d really appreciate hearing what has actually worked for you and what you’ve learned from running your business.

Hi @DavidMaxwell542 , welcome to the Community! 👋 Great question, and I think slower weeks can actually be a good opportunity to work on the parts of the business that are harder to prioritize when the schedule is packed.
Following up with past customers is definitely one I'd consider. Checking in about maintenance needs, staying top of mind for future projects, and asking happy customers for reviews or referrals can help create opportunities from relationships you've already built.
On Thumbtack, slower periods can also be a good time to review your job preferences, budget, lead prices, profile, and project photos and see if there are adjustments worth testing.
I'd especially love to hear from our plumbing and home-service pros on this one. What do you focus on when business slows down?
