Don't ask Thumbtack for a Supervisor, you may be "restricted" from support and phone revoked

A Warning to Other Pros: Be Careful Asking for a Supervisor

I want other Thumbtack Pros to be aware of what happened to us.

After disputing multiple separate refund decisions and requesting supervisor reviews, we received a warning from the Thumbtack Supervisor Team on July 10.

We have continued to deal with an ongoing targeting issue involving our computer repair business. We provide both local on-site service and nationwide remote support, but some jobs we can legitimately perform on-site cannot realistically be performed remotely. A laptop that does not turn on is an obvious example.

When new leads with these issues came in, we submitted them individually for refund review.

Today we received a "second and final warning" from the Thumbtack Supervisor Team stating that we had repeatedly contacted support regarding refund requests and disputes.

The result?

Our phone support privileges were revoked!!! - What?!!!!?!!! For asking for help after a systematic auto-rejection using AI bots to filter and automatically reject disputes?!!!

We were also told that our account will be monitored and that further contact regarding previously addressed issues may result in further action against our account. - In other words, you either stop complaining and deal with it, or you will be phased out of the platform.

So I want other Pros to understand what happened before deciding whether to escalate refund decisions themselves.

I am NOT saying that every refund request should be approved. I am also not saying Thumbtack cannot make final refund decisions.

My concern is much simpler:

There should be a meaningful distinction between repeatedly reopening the same dispute and submitting a refund request for a completely different customer and transaction.

And a Pro should be able to respectfully question a decision or request higher-level review without wondering whether doing so will eventually cost them access to a support channel.

We've invested thousands of dollars* into Thumbtack and built our business into a Diamond Pro on the platform. I never expected that asking for additional review of legitimate business concerns would end with our phone support privileges being revoked!.

I'm posting this so other Pros are aware of our experience.

If you've had a similar experience with refund disputes, supervisor escalations, or support restrictions, I'd be interested to hear what happened.
