Pricing and new phone number policy

As always , I appreciate Thumbtack helping my business. However , the recent 10 percent increase in lead pricing is too much- paying for the leads has become way too expensive. I understand you're in business to make a profit, just as I am- but the constant lead pricing increases are really hurtful to my business' bottom line. Additionally, not having the customer's direct phone number has not worked for me. My one-on-one DIRECT interaction w my clients in terms of landing the jobs worked much better when I had their direct number as opposed to the generic Thumbtack number we now have to use to communicate w our clients. I'd welcome a change back to the way it was or at the very least - to have the OPTION to have deal with my customers directly thru their personal phone numbers and not a generic Thumbtack number.

I'm sure I'm not alone in voicing my displeasure about the above changes .
Thx u for your time and consideration.

Hi Richard, thanks for sharing this and you're definitely not alone. A lot of pros have raised the same concerns about both changes.

On pricing, the 10% increase was tied to the added value of Thumbtack Numbers, including automatic refunds when customers don't respond within 72 hours. You can also adjust your max lead price and weekly budget to make sure you're only getting leads that work for your business.

On the direct number piece, just to clarify, you can still call and text customers through the dedicated Thumbtack number tied to each lead and it routes directly to their real phone. You're also free to ask for their direct contact info once you've connected, just keep in mind that moving the conversation off-platform before they reply would affect refund eligibility.

Opting out isn't currently available, but your feedback about how direct contact impacts your ability to close jobs is really valuable and I'll make sure it gets in front of the right people. We also have a Product Manager AMA coming up soon, so watch out for that!
