Leads completely dissappeared
Hi Folks I know I'm not the only one I've read through thread after thread on this. Can someone help. We went from booking 5-10 new jobs per day from Thumbtack to zero. Not almost zero. Literally zero new leads. I see so many people with the same issue. This is really harmful to contractors where we hire and staff up with a good source of leads knowing any day that number can fall to zero literally the next day with no warning. It's more harmful than not getting the leads in the first place. I've been looking for a solution but wondering if someone can help.

@rohang Thank you for sharing your experience. I can understand how concerning it is to see such a significant change in your lead volume, especially when you're planning and staffing your business around it.
I'd love to hear from some of our top pros on this. Tagging @ShaquealThomas @Juliano_50 @Jack_Marquardt @AntilleanRestoration @CodyRisner @Bretdouglas @Cliff and @JWC to see if they have any insights or suggestions .
I'll also make sure your feedback is shared with the appropriate team.

I've noticed the same thing this year. I own a painting and wallpaper company in NY and have been in the business for almost 30 years. One thing I've learned is that our industry is very sensitive to the overall economy. On top of that, it's naturally seasonal because of the weather (especially for exterior painting), summer vacations, and the holidays. I've talked to a lot of friends in the construction trades, and almost all of them have said business has slowed over the past 2 years. I don't think there's one clear reason—it's probably a combination of factors. The best approach for me has been to plan based on historical numbers and set realistic sales expectations using the previous year's performance. One thing that's made a difference is reviewing our Thumbtack budget every week and adjusting it based on the quantity and quality of the leads we're receiving.

@rohang I understand your frustration . I’ve also experienced periods where my Thumbtack performance changed dramatically, including recently.
One thing I’ve learned is not to change targeting, pricing, budget, and profile settings all at once, since it becomes difficult to tell what helped or hurt.
Given how abruptly your results changed, I’d reach out to Thumbtack support with the specific numbers and ask them to review your account and help determine what may have changed.

I do appreciate the responses but this has nothing to do with seasonality. I went from like 5-10 jobs booked to no leads. not like 5-10 leads. zero leads. Starting Saturday. one single day, nothing and then nothing since. Please folks keep this in mind.

I’ve noticed a huge drop in leads as well. I’ve attributed it to many things, but when busy season started which is now, it really hasn’t changed much. Very disappointing. Also to stay competitive it’s very expensive. Especially when the client tells you, “oh no I don’t want any work done I was just curious what it would cost” 🤦♂️ and when that lead was $98.00 . Ugh

@rohang I logged in as you to see if there was anything I could spot that might be contributing to this. From what I can tell you didn't have any remaining budget for the last part of the week, so you stopped showing up in Search Results. I would recommend checking your weekly budget page and try playing around with that a little bit to see if that helps! But, that being said, please let us know if this persists, as your budget should reset on Mondays!

I have room in my budget and next to nothing on leads. Use to get hundreds and now this preset job stuff. Should stick to generating leads only.

@TCB247 since you've got room in your budget, this isn't the same fix as rohang's case, so it's worth looking at your Performance Dashboard to compare your views trend to your leads trend over the past few weeks, that'll show if this is a demand dip in your area or something on the targeting side.
On the "preset job stuff," that's likely referring to Claimable Jobs, and those run completely separate from your regular leads, they don't have lead fees and don't pull from or replace your direct lead volume in a category, so if leads themselves dropped, that's a different lever than Claimable Jobs showing up in your For You tab. Worth checking your targeting preferences for that category too, if job types or travel area shifted at any point, that alone can quietly cut your lead volume without touching your budget at all.0
