Open concern

All of us are diverse and have different goals with our business. I think it would be beneficial to know a rough idea of what we are all striving for when considering our feedback. Perspective matters a lot.

For instance: I have a fast growing company, and big goals for expansion. My biggest struggles/current concerns are lack of lead flow, metrics to measure, lack of integration into my other systems, and ease to train staff how to use Thumbtack.

To be frank, I hear a lot of people upset about lead costs, improper matching, and many things I feel is their own responsibility. (I base this on internet opinions on Thumbtack, and a gloss over at the public forums from newer users, not in this group)

When welcoming opinions and feedback from a group of folks, I hope and pray Thumbtack is putting more weight behind whatever their own ideal customer/user, instead of trying to please everyone. If you do, you will likely push another group to the side (like me, who feels outnumbered in some areas!).

Knowing our goals, and frankly telling us what your company goals are will help bring clarity and perspective. I get nervous when I think of Thumbtack taking advice and catering to those who will come and go. Maybe that is the model, but it would help to know!

I may be in the absolute minority, but I wish lead prices went up here. I would pay more if the value, information, and number of leads went up for my business. Lets go to the moon together Thumbtack!

Thankful for this opportunity.

@Jonathan_Stickland, thank you for kicking things off in the PPC Corner, and for such a thoughtful, honest post. This is exactly what this space was made for. Real perspective like yours, goals and all, is what helps us have a genuine conversation instead of guessing at what matters to different Pros.

We're still rolling out access for other PPC and PAB members, so it might take a bit before more voices join the thread. But your post is a great first one to have here, and we're glad you shared it.

In the meantime, I'm going to share your feedback with our product teams. A few themes that stood out were your desire for stronger lead volume and quality, more integrations to fit into your existing systems, easier ways to onboard and train your team on Thumbtack, and better metrics to help you measure success. We also appreciate your perspective on prioritizing long-term value over simply optimizing for the lowest lead cost.

Conversations like this help us understand the different ways Pros define success, and that's exactly the kind of context we want to bring back to the teams building the product. Thanks again for taking the time to share your perspective. We're looking forward to hearing from more members as they join the conversation.
