Leave it to Lindsey - Organization & Personal Assisting

Hi Thumbtack Community! 👋 I’m Lindsey, owner of Leave It to Lindsey! A professional organizing business specializing in home organization, decluttering, packing, unpacking and personal assisting.

I started my business in 2014 with a simple goal: use my natural passion for organization to make life easier for others. Over the years, I’ve helped clients turn overwhelming spaces and moves into organized, functional homes that they can actually enjoy.

I’m excited to connect with other pros here! What’s one thing you’ve done on Thumbtack that has helped you stand out and turn more leads into long-term clients?

Hi @Lindsey_Elgin , welcome to the Community! 👋 More than a decade of helping people bring some order back into their homes and lives is amazing!

For standing out and building longer-term customer relationships, a few things we hear consistently from our Top Pros are responding quickly, making that first message personal to the customer's specific needs, and consistently asking happy customers for reviews.

For your business especially, I imagine those relationships can really grow over time too. Someone who initially needs help decluttering might later need packing, unpacking, or ongoing personal assistance, so delivering a great first experience and staying connected can open the door to much more than that first project.

Would love to hear what other pros have done to turn their first Thumbtack job with a customer into an ongoing relationship! 😊

For service businesses, I think standing out comes down to reliability, communication, and consistency.

In cleaning, the first job is important, but the goal is often to build enough trust that the customer wants to keep working with you. That means showing up on time, confirming the scope, doing what was promised, and following up after the service.

I also think clear expectations matter a lot. Customers should understand the difference between standard cleaning, deep cleaning, organizing, move-out cleaning, and recurring cleaning before the appointment.

A good experience can turn a one-time lead into a long-term client. People remember when the process feels easy, respectful, and professional.
