New Pro Intro: Hello from Sweep Deep Cleaning in PA! (+ Subcontractor Questions)
Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am the owner of Sweep Deep Cleaning, specializing in residential house cleaning here in Pennsylvania.
I started this company because I wanted to provide truly reliable, detailed, and high-quality cleaning services to my local community, and I'm very proud of the client base I've built so far. I am currently looking to expand my operations and take on more jobs, which leads me to my questions for the Community.
I'm looking into hiring subcontractors (1099) and would love your advice on two things:
- What has been your most successful strategy for finding dependable subcontractors, and what is a fair rate or percentage to pay them?
- Which insurance companies do you highly recommend for general liability that specifically cover subcontractors?
Thank you in advance for your help. I'm glad to connect with you all!

Welcome to the Community, @SweepDeepCleaning ! 👋 Congrats on building your client base to the point where you’re ready to expand. That’s an exciting next step!
When it comes to finding dependable help, we’ve heard from pros that referrals from other local pros or people they trust can be a good place to start. Pay can vary quite a bit depending on your market, the type of work, and what the subcontractor provides, so hearing directly from other Pennsylvania cleaning businesses could be especially helpful.
For insurance and subcontractor coverage, requirements and policies can vary, so it’s best to confirm your specific needs with a qualified insurance professional.

When working with subcontractors or adding help, I think it is important to move slowly and protect the quality of the service.
For cleaning, the customer experience depends on consistency. I would check references, confirm experience, review background and insurance requirements, and make sure everyone understands your cleaning standards before sending them to a customer’s home.
Training matters too. Even if someone has cleaning experience, they still need to know how your business handles checklists, customer communication, photos, supplies, quality control, and follow-up.
I would also talk with an insurance professional or attorney about the right coverage and agreements for your state. It is better to have those details clear before assigning jobs.
A growing team can be a great thing, but the systems need to grow with it.
