Hi Everyone! I'm Taylor, owner of Taylor Lauer Photography in West Michigan!

I specialize in families, couples, engagements, seniors and weddings, with a mix of candid moments and beautiful portraits. I recently made the jump into pursuing photography full-time, so I'm excited to be here, connect with other pros, and continue learning how to grow my business.

I'd love to hear from other photographers and service pros - what has been your best tip for turning Thumbtack leads into actual bookings?

Looking forward to connecting with everyone!

Welcome to the Community, @Taylorlauerphoto ! 📸 And congrats on making the jump into photography full-time!

Dusti already tagged @SarzozaPhoto , who is a great person to connect with on this. One thing we also hear consistently from our Top Pros is that responding quickly and making that first message specific to the customer's project can really help when customers are comparing multiple pros.

For photography especially, I'd make sure your portfolio is doing some of the selling for you too. Showing strong examples across the types of sessions you want more of can help customers quickly picture themselves working with you.

Excited to follow along as you grow your full-time photography business!

Hi Taylor, welcome to Thumbtack! The advice I'd give for booking on Thumbtack consistently is to pick a single area of photography to start. Many times I see people jump on an offer for everything and anything, from portraits to events and product photography to real estate. That's a surefire way to burn through money. I specialize in event photography on Thumbtack and only compete in that realm. Once you specialize, you'll find it easier to book once you communicate that to your leads, rather than competing with your competition offering 'everything'.

I always equate it to: Would you rather eat at a cheap buffet that offers a bit of everything at a subpar level or at a restaurant that specializes in your favorite type of food?

Good luck, and reach out if you need further guidance.
