People don't even KNOW Thumbtack has messages
I would estimate that 75% of my leads never see my reply on Thumbtack. It is only by calling and texting that I manage to get hold of them. If there is some specific reason to have them go back to the message thread (the old "open to other dates when you're not open to other dates" fiasco, for instance) many of them (50%ish) say "oh, I had no idea Thumbtack had a message system and I don't know how to get to it". I have asked Thumbtack support and there is no way to text them a direct link to the conversation.
People frivolously come to Thumbtack, fill in a request then wander away. They don't install the app. They don't see the emails. They aren't serious about finding a pro. It costs them money. It make Thumbtack rich but we pros suffer.
What can we do about this? About the fact that people have no idea the chat exists let alone see it?
Thanks,
Phil

I think the open rate for messaging is about 30% from what I can tell. Even when they do open it, it's rare they even use the messaging feature. I really think TT needs to provide an email address as well for the client, we are paying for the contact after all!
