Problem with targeting - nothing but spam leads, and charged automatically

I just signed up for targeting after a long hiatus from this platform (over being charged for bad leads). I heard the way thumbtack works had changed, so I decided to give it a second chance. I set up targeting, and set my travel preferences to 120 miles. I was almost immediately charged $29 for a lead in New Hampshire (1,132 miles from my location). The next lead I got was $28, and ended up being a a check scam trying to get my bank information.

I was skeptical about trying this platform again, but am surprised just how terribly wrong my first 24 hours on this platform have gone. Probably won't get my money back for either of those bad leads. What a nightmare of a platform.
