The graphs below can't be found in thumbtack. They're part of the CRM I developed for DerHilfer, LLC. However, message me and I'll show you how you can collect your own info.

To start, we have 5 stars on Thumbtack, Google, and NextDoor. I work exceptionally hard to respond in a very short amount of time. My median response time is 180 seconds. (probably less since TT only shows minutes above 59 seconds). I am the only one on the team using the TT app.

I've only met two types of people, those who say we're incredibly cheap and those who say we're expensive. But if they both buy they are very pleased with our work and our interactions.

I have noticed a very disturbing trend the last few months. Even though I completely gutted our service offerings last June as the price of User Inquiries compared to revenue was lousy, And last July, I pruned the zip codes I offer services in to the core, this January, I have had more Inquiries (red line) than any other month we've been on Thumbtack.

And even though the number of requests have been rising in spite of far limited offerings in far fewer locations, the number of "Only Me" requests (red line) has plummeted.

Which in turn means my win rate percentage (green line) for Thumbtack is now disastrous compared to the amount of money I'm spending per win.

(note: January 24 was the first full month on TT and I learned a lot very quickly and expensively, it can ignored for this discussion.)

I have changed nothing, yet the cost per win is triple what it was a month ago. ($119 vs. $43)Every time my win rate goes down, I make adjustments to improve, remove services that are not profitable, remove zip codes that don't buy.

Pretty soon, all that's going to be left is a stump.

And I think I know why. I've noticed a significant number of inquiries that start out as "Only Picked You" and between when I send the reply and go back to read the details, this user has picked three, four, five and sometimes six! pros in total.

Often, it's for things like hanging curtain rods. What? That's an hour job. Thumbtack charged me $9 so you can talk to me, when I'm done with the work after expenses, I've made $54 after counting travel time, I'm maybe making $23 an hour. Maybe. Thumbtack made $45 in 60 seconds.
