The mission of Thumbtack's Women’s Employee Resource Group is to cultivate an inclusive community for those who have been affected by gender inequality. Along with their allies, they aim to uplift the community through education and advocacy in the workplace. Over the last year, they've hosted online events such as development workshops, leadership panels and more.

"The women and allies who participate in our ERG and our sessions help make our commitment to inclusion and equity a reality," said Jen Protsman and Jessie Trumbo, co-leads of the Women's ERG. "These open discussions keep belonging and connection a top priority as we continue to navigate the world of virtual work."

I know women have fought long and hard for their rightful positions in the workplace, and it is not over yet. The battle still continues today between gender and race. I look forward to a day when we are all equal and looked upon as equals. I would love to hear more from all of you. Do you see the shift, or are there still inequalities that you see?

In the words of Dorothy Height, Civil Rights, and Female Rights Activist, I leave you all with this, "Greatness is not measured by what a man or woman accomplishes, but by the opposition, he or she has overcome to reach their goals."

I absolutely agree that there is still some work to be done! 😃 I have noticed that some of my male colleagues are able to command a much higher rate than me. Sometimes there is this expectation to always be "on," especially in the virtual world with the camera so close to our faces at times, and to always be put together with perfect makeup💄 , etc. (even though I am a tomboy at heart 😆). But I think that as we continue to showcase our expertise and skills by highlighting our businesses and the people who appreciate and support our work, we can create thriving communities of diversity and equality. At the end of the day, showing passion by doing what we love, and doing it well, plus presenting results, will yield success! 🙌 Anyone else notice some of the things I mentioned here?

I am also thinking about the women entrepreneurs who have to take care of children, parents/grandparents, and other dependents as well as provide a lot to both the household and the business around the clock. Some of my good friends are in this boat, and they are exhausted. Some of them told me they don't eat, sleep, or exercise well because of how much of themselves they have to give. Is anyone else in this position?

Two decades of experience as a professional organizer has shown me a few consistent trends:

Clients will sometimes mistake me/ my company for an interior decorator but not my male counterparts.

I have met excellence among both men and women in the roles of mover/packer, closet designer, professional organizer and interior decorator.

I guarantee there’s a difference in how a professional organizer designs a closet and how a professional organizer packs. does that make one better than the other? Not for every client.

No matter your industry, encourage excellent questions, provide quality answers, and always match your client to what is needed. As women, we have a natural proclivity to listen well and hear others’ needs, often when they are unspoken. Using those extra senses brings extraordinary value to the marketplace.
