  • Only five? I've been involved in a six-way tie. Thumbtack claims they limit it to four, but…

Also, not a "high value job" as this User has no means to pay and thinks her "upcycled" materials can be reused. That's a discussion for another day.

I've never seen them limit it to 4. What's wild is how often they allow customers to reach out to 5-6 at $85/pro, in may cases TT makes more money than the pro who would do the job.

well I been and up to 8-10 people at the same time before

  • That's insane. FRFR, if TT sends a lead to more than one pro, they need to limit the price to $2. Because most "leads" at best are worth $5 and if they're going to divide the likelihood of getting hired, they need to divide their price among all the professionals who the User contacts.

Under $5,000 should be limited to ONE. Over $5,000 should be limited to TWO. If the User wants to contact more than TWO he should be asked to pay the full estimated price of service in ESCROW so he doesn't make the same request to Angi and all the other leeches.

Totally understand what you are saying and teams are working on how to better educate customers and get them to the right pro for their job, as well as understanding how to increase customer commitment.

Quick reminder that Thumbtack isn't "sending the lead" to a certain number of professionals. Customers are choosing who to reach out to and many will choose to get multiple bids for the work they need done. There is a limit on the number of pros a customer can reach out to within a certain time frame (but some may reach out to more following that time if they have not heard back or want to get more options). I know this doesn't address your concern of lead prices vs number of pros, but just wanted to clarify.

Be sure to send this feedback to support@thumbtack.com as well. Thank you!
