Other Pros answer within 1 - 4 minutes and too many pros are contacted

So I have noticed on direct leads that there are some pros that respond within 1, yes 1 minute. It's as though they are sitting on their computer waiting for a lead. Even when I see one right away I cannot use my response letter that I have uploaded within 1 minute. Am I missing something? Is there an autorespond ability that I don't know about.
Second issue is that a person is contacting 5 pros in direct leads and I know in my industry it's usually first response gets the job. And these leads are ridiculously expensive!! Almost not worth it to me compared to another pro site I belong to. And, then, the clients book somewhere else all together. I don't want to be 1 of 5 pros contacted...can I just look at opportunities and not leads?? Then I have control of when I pay for something.

@sandrak You can definitely just do opportunities and not direct leads - then you only pay if/when the customer responds. However, there is a much lower contact rate for those, since typically the customer has already reached out to a pro.
You can use Front Desk, which is a great option for responding instantly, but it is a paid feature. You can also check out our other partner integrations that may help with your response time and communication with customers. You can also take advantage of saved replies to help speed up your response. Would also recommend adjusting your Max Lead Pricing to make sure you have it set at lead prices where you feel they work for you. Hope this helps!

Our Help Center has tons of great resources for all things Thumbtack — here is an article about how to turn off targeting (that's what you need to do) and one about the difference between opportunities and direct leads. Hope these help!

I also do not believe that a customer is clicking on 4 to 5 pros. I just answered a lead in under a minute and never got a response back. One of 4 other pros answered in 22 seconds. The customer is not responding and has a bad phone number contact. There wasn't even enough time for the customer to contact 4 pros. This setup needs to be improved. How do we know as a Pro if these leads are really a true opportunity or just a way to charge our card? Especially with a bad phone number. Please help with this

When you respond to opportunities I'm interested" they don't get delivered nor read. I've given up on that and just wait for a potential direct lead
