ducks in a row

I'm not sure if other industries have this issue, but as a videographer, I see a lot of leads where the client doesn't have their ducks in a row. These tend to be "passion projects" where the person is self-funding. It's often a documentary, something for a non-profit they started, or related to a book they wrote.

There often seems to be something they don't have secured or lined up: a location, permission to film at a location, communicating with an individual that they are going to be filmed and getting permission to film them.

I wish there was a way to opt out of these types of "passion project" leads. I don't think it's simply a matter of increasing the budget. Sometimes leads with a lower budget do have their ducks in a row and it's a simple "shoot only" project that takes a half day.

  • I agree with this 100% this service is a fantastic idea but it could be improved with some very simple filters in the customer process. Especially as a videographer.
