Should Thumbtack show on each lead whether the customer has replied to other pros?

For Thumbtack Numbers under the Fair Shot refund, we only get our money back if the customer doesn’t reply to any pro within 72 hours. Right now we can’t see whether the customer has replied to anyone else, so we have no idea if a refund is coming.

A simple counter on each lead, such as “Customer has replied to 2 pros,” would tell us right away where we stand. Would you want that?

@JeffChaffee you should be able to see this when you click on the Competition Insights within the message thread - you'll be able to see what other pros responded as well as whether or not the customer has responded to any of them. Hope this helps!

I think having better visibility into customer engagement would help service professionals make more informed decisions about how they manage leads.

For cleaning businesses, customers often contact several pros while comparing availability, pricing, reviews, and the type of cleaning they need.

Competition Insights can provide useful information, but I think making relevant customer activity easier to understand directly within the lead conversation would be even more helpful.

For example, knowing whether a customer is actively reviewing responses, has recently communicated with other pros, or may have already hired someone could help businesses prioritize their follow-ups.

That does not mean customers should feel pressured to respond immediately or lose their privacy. They should still have the freedom to compare options and make the decision that works best for them.

I think the goal should be providing enough transparency to help pros understand whether an opportunity is still active.

For small cleaning businesses, time spent following up on leads is part of the overall cost of acquiring customers.

Better visibility could help pros spend less time chasing inactive inquiries and more time providing helpful, timely responses to customers who are genuinely interested in booking.

A more transparent process would benefit both customers and professionals.
